It has been found that in many households around the world, that child abuse and neglect have been committed almost every day. Abuse is when a child is physically hurt by the parent(s).
Neglect is mentally or physically disrupting the child's growing environment. For hundreds of years, raising a child properly is a part of parenthood, and when a man and woman decide to have a child they must be ready to help nurse their child into the world properly. Parents were expected to discipline their children as god fearing; respectful human beings. Religious, dedicated, morally sounds, and industrious contributors to the community (Tower 3). In order for a child to become a healthy individual they must learn to set priorities and plan ahead, trust others, make friends, develop a good self-image, differentiate between feeling and behavior, and get their needs met in an acceptable manner (6). Not only were parents teachers to their offspring, but influences as well. Since a child is mostly around its parents for their first years, the parents actions can affect a child, since it learns from what it sees.
Within different societies, a child is never raised exactly the same as another child from a different country or a child from a different social status...
