In 1970 Aston Barrett (also called "Family Man") and his brother Carlton joined the Wailers. The band had an extraordinary reputation throughout the Caribbean, but not internationally yet.
Then Bob started travelling. In 1971, he travelled to Sweden with the American singer Johnny Nash and had a recording contract with CBS.
In 1972, the Wailers went to London. Bob Marley went to the Basing Street Studios of Island Records (a Jamaican company that had moved to London), to see its founder, Chris Blackwell. He advanced Bob Marley 4,000 pounds to make an album. "Catch a fire" was the start of a long climbing internatinal fame.
In 1973, the Wailers embarked on a three month club tour of Britain, and then on an American tour, which was a great success. But Bunny refused to play that tour and was replaced by Joe Higgs...
