One of the worst mass killings known to man of one population to another resulted from the genocide in Rwanda in the year 1994. This genocide amounted to an incredible eight hundred thousand people dead from the Tutsi population (http://www.cia.gov/cia/publications/factbook/print/rw.html). The Hutu majority began its rampage in April, nineteen ninety four, and the killings persisted for another three months after that. Those who have studied the killings in Rwanda all have derived different theories and factors that they believe led up to the killings and the genocide in Rwanda. No one is exactly sure however whether or not there was a combination of factors that may have begun the mass killings. In my opinion, I feel as if there were endless factors that led up to the killings and the genocide in Rwanda.
As Philip Gourevitch states on page one hundred and eighty of his novel, he can't understand that with all the terribly poor and overcrowded places in the world, how Rwanda was the only country for whom genocide had begun...
