Everyones opinion is different about what an American is. What would you consider an American to be? Some people will accept you ideas or thoughts, but others will interpret it differently based on their perspective. Being an American means to be proud of who you are and stand up for what you believe is right. Being an American also means to have freedom. Freedom to do what you wish and practice your religion without persecution . In my opinion, I believe a person who considers themselves an American is someone who represents his or her country in a time a need, dedicates themselves to their family and most importantly, respects those near him.
Being Americans, we should take it upon ourselves to fight and represent our country in a time of need in order to keep the prosperity and freedom for all people. Most people do not understand that it is a privilege to be part of such a great country, where so much freedom is expressed openly without persecution. As Crevecoeur stated "Here they are become men; in Europe they were as so many useless plants" (70)...
