Do you know what danger can icebergs do? The Titanic, known as the largest ship in the world, sank because of the tip of an iceberg. Icebergs can weigh as much as several trillion tonnes. The biggest iceberg ever recorded was even bigger than Belgium. Usually, about 7/8 of an iceberg is under water, so only the tip of the iceberg is shown. Icebergs are like blocks of fresh-water ice that drift along the sea in polar regions. Sometimes, like the Titanic, it is hard to spot an iceberg because fog usually hides them. Therefore, when ships navigate through the dark oceans, they would be watching out for icebergs on the way.
Icebergs form from glaciers that break apart after it reaches the sea. Over thousand of years of falling snow in the winter, it keep building up layers and layers of snow, which lasts long without entirely melting...
