The Homeless Being homeless is not just living without shelter. It is not only physical. It is also a psychological burden to the homeless. Indecencies and insecurities are inflicted upon them. According to the government, a homeless person is someone who lacks regular residence within a period of time. Based on this, researchers at the Urban Institute estimate 3.5 million people are homeless. 1.4 million of them are children. This translates to 1% of the U.S population. Is this acceptable in a prosperous nation as ours? This very thought should be one of the major concerns of our country. The homeless population includes ordinary people like us.
