Alexander's victories in Greece and Persia
Throughout the history of time there have been a handful of men who have dominated the time they lived in and the times we line in. One such man was the Macedonian conqueror, Alexander the Great. This man ruled over the vastest empire the western world has ever seen. The Hellenistic world that he created influenced his time and continues to influence ours. There are many misconceptions that he was a brutal, murdering tyrant: when in fact this could not be farther from the truth. One thing that is on all historians pens is that Alexander was one of if not the greatest generals of all time. By blending Greek-style infantry fighting and Eastern-world cavalry tactics, the Macedonian king had a style all his own that was unbeatable. The purpose of this paper is not to convince you that he was the nicest or most loved ruler of all time. It is to describe to you the blitzkrieg tactics that swept across the Mediterranean and beyond like wildfire.
