Everyday life in the United States Marine Corp. differs from everyday life of an ordinary United States citizen. A Few Good Men demonstrates the daily struggles that go on for the Marines stationed at the military facility Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. A young Marine, Private First Class William Santiago was assaulted in the middle of the night, his arms, legs where tied with duct tape, and a rag placed in his mouth to keep him quite. Several hours later, Private First Class Santiago was dead. Lance Corporal Harold Dawson and Private first Class Lauden Downey stand accused of his murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and conduct unbecoming a Marine. The death of fellow Marine, Private First Class William Santiago occurred while Lance Corporal Dawson and Private First Class Downey where giving him an ordered code red. A code red happens when a marine does not maintain a high level of conduct or conditioning and receives training from his fellow platoon members. The order for Lance Corporal Dawson and Private First Class Downey to give Private First Class Santiago the code red came from their platoon commander, Lt.
