a) Santa Anna: Mexican General, very unpredictable, was sent to destroy the Texas rebellion.
b) Sam Houston: Once governor of Tennessee and served in the war of 1812. Lived with the Cherokees, defeated the Mexicans in the Battle of Jacinto. He captured Santa Anna and made him sign a treaty recognizing Texas's independence.
c) Gag Rule: House of Representatives refused to discuss any further petitions against slavery.
d) John Tyler: When Harrison died, Tyler took over the Presidency. Tyler wanted to annex Texas. Tyler then found out that Texas was negotiating with Great Britain. Then he tried to get a treaty passed to make Texas a part of the U...
