The French Revolution furthered the ideas of the Enlightenment in many ways. During this time, France, like many other European countries, was caught up in the ideas of such men as Voltaire, Rousseau, and Diderot. A few examples of Enlightenment Ideas are the third estate constructing a constitution stating that all men are equal, the National Assembly’s Declaration of Rights of Men and Citizens, Olympe de Gouge’s Declaration of the Rights of Women, and also Napoleon’s Civil Code. In some ways the French Revolution didn’t further the Enlightenment at all. ...
