Now that I take time to think about myself, how I was in the past, and how I am now I have been through a lot of stages in my life. I can actually identify specific turning points and how I had changed. I never really realized how much I have changed so much, and I am only nineteen years old. As I read about Marcia's four categories I noticed a few similarities between the descriptions of the categories and certain stages of my life. I believe that almost everyone has at least experienced two out of the four categories.
One of the few that I could personally identify with is the "Identity Achievement" (crisis leading to commitment). In this stage one begins to explore her/himself as a person and makes decisions based on what one sees fit for the present and the future. I remember the period of time when I began to think about what I want, not what my mother wants for me, but what I want. During this time I also began to think and feel for myself. I can recall times when I would sit outside and just think about what would I like to do in the future...
