For this assignment, I chose to watch an episode of Sesame Street and identify why preschoolers would like this show. In this paper I will identify several stimuli in the show, point out the educational message(s), and also explain why or why not I would let my own future preschooler watch this television show.
In the episode of Sesame Street that I watched there were several stimuli that a preschooler would readily attain to. First of all there are the characters. All of the characters on the show are happy, outgoing, and colorful. The real people that are also on the show are of all different races and are from different cultures. I grew up in a small town and never really saw anybody from a different ethnic background, so I think a lot of children like this would watch the show because it's something different that they've never seen before. Another stimulus in the show is all the music. They play music from all different parts of the world and music that is about numbers, letters, and things they are starting to learn at this point.
