This particular discussion was put together by the Women's Studies Research and Resource Center and hosted by Don McPherson and Jackson Katz. In reaction to the discussion, I thought it was inspiring and uplifting. Don McPherson was the first speaker. He started off by talking about how men need ti "turn off the violence" because it exists everywhere, in our media, our community and our homes. That it has become a women's issue and not just an issue of the community. McPherson states that he never really knew how to be a real man until after he ended his football career, which started off as a little shocking to most people. Isn't that what being a man is all about, being macho and aggressive? I could see that question popping into all the guys minds. McPherson stated that kids don't need to be told not to do something; they need to be given more information in order to make better decisions.
He discussed the violent acts committed by men against women and to see how often they occurred was crazy...
