That Blasted Rap Music
Most adults hate it, while most teens love it. Adults see violent lyrics, sexual innuendoes and curse words, whereas teens see fast beats, dancing music and lyrics that relate to their lives. Adults view rap music as corruptive, but are there really any adverse effects on a child's mind from listening to rap.
Violence seems to rule with an iron fist over rap music today. Many lyrics such as "two cops were on the milk box missing" and "it's hard to digest with the size of the hole in your chest" show aggressive attitudes and tendencies. Such lyrics have been proven to cause adverse effects in the adolescence. In March 3, 2003 researches completed a one-year study of 522 black girls between the age of 14 and 18 and the survey showed that girls that watched violent rap videos were three times as likely to strike a teacher, 2.5 times more likely to get arrested, and 1.5 times as likely to drink alcohol or use drugs...
