Johnson & Johnson's primary interest both historically and currently, has been in products related to health and well being. engaged in the manufacture and sale of a broad range of products in the health care field in many countries of the world. The company's worldwide business is divided into three segments: Consumer; Pharmaceutical; and Professional. Johnson & Johnson was organized in the State of New Jersey in 1887.
One of the strengths of Johnson & Johnson is the fact that it is a family of companies that are diverse but still in the health care field. I think its weakness is the same that may company it the same industry has, and that is the regulatory issues and patent issues. When a patent expires they immediately experience intense competition for customers of some of their best products.
As you can see from the date it was organized, J & J is a very mature company in a very competitive industry.
