L-Band Satellite Mobile Data Overview
Introduction
The wireless mobile data system solution will consist of an L-Band Satellite mobile data network providing data communications between the Network gateway, local LAN network , State Criminal Database, NCIC, and vehicles. The proposed system solution allows for full bi-directional flow of data and operational and maintenance control by the customer.
Dispatch Center
The Network gateway is the critical management tool linking the mobile fleet, Satellite Land Station (via secure internet connection), State Criminal Database, NCIC network, and optionally the local CAD and Record Management System. The Network gateway will link to the state message switch, the state Criminal Database and NCIC network and other host computers using a TCP/IP Ethernet interface.
The Network gateway combined with its Network Controller modules, manages all system functions and messages from the mobile fleet. As messages are received from the fleet, the Network gateway acknowledges each message. The Network gateway routes all outbound messages to the appropriate mobile in the fleet and provides delivery confirmation to the host computer. System management functions provided by the Network gateway include management of traffic flow, duplicate message elimination, mobile authentication and authorization, network statistics, and ensure system reliability.
Satellite Coverage & Performance
The L-Band Satellite system, unlike conventional or land based network providers, requires no fixed radio sites. The L-Band network requires no site installation or ongoing site maintenance...
