Basketball is Life
Growing up, my life consisted of one thing and one thing only: sports. If it was playing in a soccer tournament in a different state, playing in an AAU basketball tournament, or playing All-Star baseball for Lexington County, I was always doing something that involving sports. Not trying to sound conceited, but I was good at every sport that I tried. And for 16 years, sports is all I wanted to do. So, naturally, sports shaped my life and how I would live it. There was not just one single event that shaped my entire life, but a very influential time during my childhood had to be during the basketball season when I was in the 10th grade and was playing Junior Varsity basketball for Lexington High School in South Carolina.
It was a Monday afternoon and I was at the gymnasium practicing for our upcoming game against Orangeburg-Wilkerson High School. We had just come off a big win in region play against Aiken High School the previous Friday and pushed our overall record to 13-0 and 9-0 in region play. Our next game was on Friday against O-W and if we could pull out a win against them, we would clinch the region championship.
