Wartime Rape in the Congo
In the on-going wars in Congo some of the rebels have resorted in raping the women and girls of Congo. The rebels in these civil wars basically destroy the people's lives. Once the women have been raped they lose all of their dignity. Their husbands make them leave and their community disowns them. For some reason when the women are the victims of these rapes everyone suddenly doesn't like them anymore, and they only have each other to turn to.
One night when Rita M'bajampaka was sleeping when she was awoken by a bunch of rebels from the on-going war. They took her and ran through the bushes with her, then raped her while her husband ran away in the other direction. In the morning her husband told her he was no longer her husband and made her leave the house. Then the small town neglected her because she had been raped.
A group of women that have been raped get together because they only have each other...
