Sir Launcelot
In the story of Le Morte d' Arthur, Sir Launcelot was one of the most reliable and bravest knight, him and about 150 other knights were Knights of the Round Table. Sir Launcelot was supreme, both in prowess at arms and in nobility. He showed loyalty to King Arthur, the common people, and to his fellow knights. Sir Launcelot was a favorite of Queen Gwynevere; it was rumored that they might have even had an affair.
Sir Launcelot was loyal to King Arthur because he was one of the knights who never married. He saw that a married knight would find that his priorities would lie with his family. He liked to participate in tournaments, battles, and wars. If he was married he would miss the duties of a knight. An unmarried knight had the choice of having an affair, Launcelot didn't because it would make him less virtuous.
