vietnam vs iraq The Vietnam War is a good example of leaving citizens in the dark. Issues like Agent Orange, Diem?s murder, the attack on the U.S.S. Maddox and the Tonkin Gulf Resolution show the importance of what citizens should and shouldn?t know. If Americans had known the truth on the important issues rather that the less important, maybe issues that are still questioned today, never would have happened. First of all, The U.S. never should have used defoliants. Agent Orange was a powerful defoliant used in Vietnam. The defoliant turned out to have negative effects on not only Vietnamese but Americans as well. Agent Orange destroyed 10% of Vietnam's vegetation throughout the war.
