"The Story of an Hour"
(Feminist critique)
Kate Chopin's, "The Story of an Hour", gives quite a bit of insight on some of her feminist views. Even in some of her other short stories such as, "The storm", a lot can be said about the symbols or ideas when reading the story and coming up with a feminist critique. Some of the feminist issues discussed in this particular story include the relationship between a man and a woman, power of women and also the rational of a woman.
In the beginning of this story, the main character (Louise Mallard) is seen as merely mourning the loss of her husband. It is assumed that because of her reaction towards the sudden tragic news, her relationship with Mr. Mallard was rather close. The author mentioned Mrs. Mallards 'heart trouble'. The significance behind her heart trouble lies behind the fact that she was of old age. Her old age aids the impression that her relationship with her husband was long-term...
