The hip-hop culture has grown a great deal over the years, and so has its music. Hip-hop music has touched the lives of many at some point in time or another. When it first sprouted it had a positive influence on people. It promoted life, wellbeing, and togetherness. Over the years, hip-hop music has grown to become more complex and more graphic. Today it has a numerous amount of artist with different styles, but one thing that seems to be a constant in all of these artists’ songs is the glamorization of negativity. Since most of the listeners are that of the younger generation, I believe that youth idolize these artists, and the songs that they make, thus having a negative influence on youth listeners.
