A Story
I remember when I was first referred to a neurologist for assistance in establishing a diagnosis for my condition. I remember being week and my muscles cramping for no reason, I began to become clumsier, and how I had a hard time speaking. That was the most difficult symptom for me, not being able to speak. It made me scared.
I told the neurologist all of this. He gave me a meticulous and detailed examination, ordered lab tests, and tests, and more tests. I had all sorts of blood tests, radiological tests, electro-diagnostic testing, electromyography testing, and brain and spinal cord imaging tests. A few weeks later I was diagnosed with ALS, Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (Mitsumoto M.D, p37).
