"The Story of an Hour"
As I read "Story of an Hour" by Kate Chopin, I noticed Chopin had a very unique writing technique. She uses symbolism frequently and foreshadowing as well. While the time period of this short story is of the late 1800s, we can picture this occurring last week. Chopin works very well with symbolism. She will lead your mind in one direction and make you think, make you wonder, "Why did Chopin say that?" I found myself asking that often while reading "The Story of an Hour".
Chopin starts early in the story with foreshadowing. After Mrs. Mallard hears of her husband's death she goes to their room by herself. As Chopin stated, "There stood, facing an open window, a comfortable, roomy armchair...
