"The Sniper" by Liam O'Flaherty is a short story about a sniper that is in a war with another sniper and he accidentally kills his brother. "The man he killed "by Thomas Hardy is about two soldiers that enlist in the army. They both do not have jobs and sold all their belongings. They soldiers could have been friends, but they had to kill each other because they were enemies. The Sniper and The man he killed have many similaries and differences that are expressed by many literary devices such as plot setting, and charactherization, and theme.
First the plot of both "The Sniper" and "The man he killed" are very similar. In the sniper the plot is in the middle of a war. The sniper is fighting with another sniper on the opposite side of the street, the sniper kills his enemy and later finds of that it was his brother. Likewise, in "The man he killed" the plot is about a slodier in a war and he was thinking that that him and his enemy could have been friends, but he had to kill him because they were enemies.
Secondly the setting has similarities and differences...
