Every woman had a Barbie doll when they were young. At an impressionable age, a woman looks to a Barbie doll as what they would like to be when they grow up. When women get older, they realize the world is not perfect and they can not be either. Barbie Doll by Marge Piercy is an example of what happens when the deification goes wrong. This poem shows how innocence is lost at the hands of others. Piercy used simple but powerful words to describe this woman's angst.
This poem details the life and death of a woman, who was persecuted because of the way she looked. This poem is an example of what happens when an imperfect woman lashes out at a world that despises her. The narrator of the story is a third party, most likely the author, who takes a very neutral tone throughout the story. There is not much emotion except for pity for the poor woman's plight...
