Sigmund Freud developed the psychoanalytic theory. In this theory Freud proposed that sex is the most powerful human drive. He believed that the main source in developing personality is you libido (sex drive). This sexual drive is said to be present at birth and there until death. The psychoanalytic theory also states that the course of sexual development is based on balancing out your different states of mind. There are 3 states of mind in which are called the id, ego and superego. The id was said to be your selfishness and pleasure seeking side. The ego was stated to be your conscious state of mind. The superego was said to be your moral finding guilty side.
This theory seemed very reasonable back when Freud proposed it...
