Essay Question:

Consider the power of the Inner Journey to challenge your thinking.
In your response you should refer to the set text, My Place, at least one piece from the stimulus booklet and a variety of material of your own choosing.
The Core Text, My Place, is based quite strongly around family ties and the inner journeys that are made together.
In the Leunig cartoon it refers to letting out who you are inside and being that person, it is similar to Sally in my place as she wants people to see what its like being someone like her, being Aboriginal and letting it all out. Leunig is a firm believer in letting out your personality and living your life and who you are and not hiding behind barriers. Sally's maid barrier is that her family, mainly Nan, is so afraid of letting it be known because of what society gives as consequences.
In both of the texts, Life is Beautiful and My Place, the parents make decisions to protect their children from the harm and ridicule that surrounds their culture.
