Genetics is the key to human evolution. Our genes determine nearly everything about us, our DNA being a map to our body structure. Human genes have gone through many phases and many changes over the course of our existence. This process of slow change was done through variations in our genes that were passed onto the next generation, this happening over millions of years and suddenly all the changes build up to create a new species. This is the basis of all evolution. "Evolution requires genetic variation and genetic variation, results from changes within a gene pool, the genetic make-up of a specific population. A gene pool is the combination of all the alleles alternative forms of a genetic locusfor all traits that population may exhibit. Changes in a gene pool can result from mutationvariation within a particular geneor from changes in gene frequencya measure of the proportion of an allele in a given population."(2)
