Pharmacy
"Pharmacy is the art of preparing and dispensing drugs" (www.dictionary.com). Pharmacy goes back as far as the ninth century, since its birthplace in the Islamic city of Baghdad, but it is believed that the earliest men used different types of pharmacies. Pharmacy was then introduced to Europe through Spain and into Southern Italy. During the Renaissance, pharmacy was organized as a part of Western society. Then, in the seventeenth century, pharmacy came over to the British colonies and eventually to the United States, which was still young at the time (History of Pharmacy). Today, modern pharmacy is a growing industry due to the longevity of life and the development of modernized medicine. The accessibility of medications has become as commonplace as your local drive-thru restaurants.
