There are several different psychological effects of divorce. The top three effects that come to mind are: change, guilt, and fear of abandonment. Some fathers and mothers see divorce as "their" issue. For example, " We just can't get along anymore". They use this as a complaint. In most cases, when a couple initiates a divorce, whether it's by the husband or the wife, they don't take the time out to ponder the effects on their children that this divorce is causing. Most children see divorce as something traumatic. They are concerned with their own security, not always with their parents' happiness. They will question what they did wrong, did they cause the divorce, and what's going to happen to them. They react in different ways with the impending divorce...
