Escaping the Reactive Logic

To become a true philosopher and one who truly lives, one must learn to live outside of reactive logic. According to Nietzsche, Christianity and the old morality are built upon this reactive logic. The fundamental mistake of this logic is a confusing of the effect with the cause. "The most general formula on which every religion and morality is founded is: 'Do this and that, refrain from this and thatthen you will be happy! Otherwise" (TI, 493). In Nietzsche's revaluation of all values, the roles are reversed. A man who is happy, or "well turned out," will necessarily behave in particular ways. "In a formula: his virtue is the effect of his happiness" (TI, 493).
In order to escape reactive logic one must walk the path that Nietzsche has. The philosopher must battle against "whatever marks him as a child of his time," he must become "timeless" (CW, 611)...
