The Process of "Passing"
How the novel about passing became another genre in literary productions is able to trace back through the matters dealing with racial discrimination and fraudulent self-identity. The novel about passing became popular during the contemporary period starting from the late nineteen century to the twenty century. Before this period, there seemed to be the literary works about passing which induced some common features of the passing novels in the contemporary period. Those works were mostly concerned with the miscegenation, the mulatto, the mulatta and the exploitation, the inequality treatments committed by the white against the black. To appreciate the novel about passing, we should have insight knowledge about how the passing novel originated. Here we have to take a journey through the process of passing. To do so, we have to investigate the influences on passing development.
Before the issue of passing emerged, the racism formerly had embedded in a society in which a different groups of people competed, fought, hurt and disliked each other.
