The basis of my report is on the following ideas; sport and sport figures shouldn't be considered as a stage for good-will, as an intention to bring cultures together, and sport mimics warfare, sport fans rally with an unreasonable attitude, and sport is very tribal, macho, and barbaric.
As a solution to the problems mentioned above, I have presented the arts and sciences as a positive alternative, because those concepts are symbols that bridge cultures.
You'll find important information in the conclusions and recommendations section and the steps mentioned in this section to further take action must be followed up on as soon as possible for immediate changes.
Observing "fan's" actions and psychological affects after viewing a sport game on television at The English Pub in Amherst, Massachusetts helped me to realize that sporting events and the sport figures involved really has an affect on the behavior of "fans" viewing the event. Those at The Pub were calm and enjoying themselves before the game started. During the game, Boston Red Sox followers started to bunch together and New York Yankees followers started to bunch together also, but creating space between the Red Sox followers. This created two sub-cultures within an area that just hours before was one culture, enjoying the food served (culinary arts). This observation helped to prove that sport does create boundaries and due to the behavior of those viewing the game changed from calm to barbaric, I would conclude that the two groups became tribal.
