In Adam Farhi's essay "Recognizing the Superteacher Myth in Film," the purpose is to educate individuals who believe that the teacher they watch in films is the same teacher they see in the classroom. Farhi dislikes how teachers are always portrayed as "superteachers."
In a relatively short period of time they are capable of changing dysfunctional children. The author dislikes how Hollywood does not show teachers as educators but miracle workers who alter lives for the better.
The main idea of this essay is very similar to its purpose. It is that in cinema many teachers are capable of fixing troubled children in a rather quick fashion. Sometimes they neglect to even educate their students but somehow they manage to change their views and morals. Also in Hollywood schools, there is only one "superteacher." The other teachers are even sometimes portrayed as non-caring individuals who give up on their students. Also in many instances in film, the headmaster or principle, is usually shunned down upon for not supporting his "superteacher...
