Postville The story starts out in Postville, Iowa. It’s a small, sheltered community made up mostly of Lutheran people. They have virtually no exposure to other ethnicities and feel threatened when a group of Lubavitcher Hasidim Jews moves into their world. The diversity between the two groups is so great, that mutual tolerance practically becomes impossible. The two cultures collide throughout the film. Some of the residents attempt to become friends with the Jews; however, they seem cold and disinterested. Which heavily insulted many of the Lutheran population; who believe in neighborliness. The Jews have so many contrasting views and ethics, and believe in isolation for purity, for instance, that some of the residents pretty much dismiss the idea of trying to get to know their “fellow neighbor” and want them to leave.
