Language is an issue that the residences of (wherever) are all immersed in. There is a lot of controversy in the film Lone Star that shows that the subject of language is at discord. The film displays many instances where prejudice and segregation of the languages reside. Tension is sensed between the native Spanish speaking Mexicans and the English speaking Caucasians. The movie also reveals relations between power and language. It supports the fact that power often rests with the English speaking part of the society.
Although segregation is outlawed it can be inferred from the movie that it still exists. Today where we live and also in the movie, we can see that people of different languages stay separate. In the movie we see facilities where the population is predominantly Spanish speaking and other facilities where its is predominantly English speaking individuals. There is not much of a diverse mix...
