Political life of contemporary society is versatile and complicated. In these processes many individuals, also political parties, which have central place and role in modern conceptions about democratic process, participate. Looking for comprehensive "political parties" explanation, it can be considered that political party is an organized group of people sharing common policy preferences and habitually a primary ideological position.
For classifying party systems the most conventional adopted criterion is the number of parties in competition. In nowadays, the two basic modes of political parties are often settled as cadre parties and mass parties (the author of this typology - M.Duverger). Moreover, political parties can be distributed also as "catch all parties". Analyzing political parties in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) this type is quite significant. Besides this classification, political parties can be also arranged by any number of principles. Ware has designed four main classificatory principles:
the ideologies of the parties,
the extend to which parties penetrate society,
the stance of parties towards the legitimacy of the regime,
the number of parties in the system...
