Nowadays, people are acceptable and accommodating to almost anything. It's not a shock to see a person in just their underwear when you turn on your TV, (especially if it's tuned to Jerry Springer) and it's no biggie if you want to get these gaping 3-centimeter holes in your ears. Mentally handicapped people have jobs; women with kids they can't pay for go on welfare. Now all of this is great, don't get me wrong. But why is it in a society with seemingly no taboos that a man and a man can't get married and live in peace like a straight couple?
Homosexuality isn't a big deal these days. It's not like we gasp when we hear the word gay, in fact most people probably have a good friend or two that are gay. We have TV shows like "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy" and "Will and Grace", two shows that portray gay people somewhat unrealistically, but it's not that gay is a big taboo.
I understand that some people have problems with homosexuality. Certain religions even condemn it, but if that's the reason why gays can't get married, then we might as well kill off anybody that people have problems with...
