Legalization of Marijuana
The legalization of marijuana is one of the most controversial issues today in society. There are many pros and cons to legalizing marijuana but I think the pros out way the cons. I think the government dramatizes the use of marijuana in the media way too much. DARE a program that is supposed to be a drug awareness program to stop kids from smoking marijuana actually increases the use of marijuana (www.watchman.org/na/darestat.htm). In DARE they exaggerate the problems that can occur from smoking marijuana, such as telling them they can die from smoking marijuana. When these kids get to high school and all these kids are smoking marijuana but nobody is dying they are going to be interested in the drug. We still spend millions of dollars every year on programs like this to stop marijuana when the money should be spent somewhere else because these programs are not working...
