Banning Books from a Lawyers Point of View

A lawyer could easily be for banning books, or against it. In most cases, the lawyer was found on the side to prevent the banning of books. As a lawyer you would use laws and documents to support your case against book banning. A lawyer also might need to research information that can be used against him as well. Sometimes looking up previous cases of book banning could be helpful.
In a case such as this, a lawyer might want to bring up the First Amendment in the United States Constitution. The First Amendment protects the freedom of press, freedom of religion, freedom to peaceably assemble, right to petition an unjust government and the freedom of speech. Banning a book would violate freedom of speech. Intellectual Freedom is another term a lawyer might want to use.
