The Family In the Postmodern World
Over time the concept of family values and the basic roles of different family members have changed a great deal. Through such finite time such as fifty or so years these changes were most likely not expected. Although these are merely an adaptation to society some are unwise and shouldn't have happened. Nevertheless the changes have occurred and more will come as time marches on.
If we travel back to the 1950's and a little earlier we can see the basic nuclear family. The father was the breadwinner, going to work each day. The mother was the stay at home; take care of the children part of the family. Lastly, the children went to school and helped the mother. This nuclear family from this time era is now obsolete and a perfect television family that we only see on TV. If a family were like that today most people would view it as weird and uniquely different from everyone else...
