Nikola Tesla was born in Smiljan, Croatia in 1856 to parents of Serbian descent. His father was an Orthodox priest, and his mother was a very intelligent housemother. When Tesla was a young child he was considered "Slow." When someone would tell him something, he would invasion what the person was saying, so he couldn't tell the difference between fact and what he was imagining. His mind was so complex and confusing to understand that the average person would go crazy or give up on trying to understand it. He would imagine a creation in his mind and visualize it at almost every angle. With out paper and pencil, just in his mind he could find flaws in his creation and could fix them mentally in several ways to pick out the best ideas. After his older brother Dane died Nikola began to see bright flashes of light that interfered with his thinking and his vision. By the age of 17 he could speak 4 languages, and he found out to his delight he could create anything in his mind. Some of the things he would mention to his family constantly at the dinner table were a low friction water wheel, and a motor driven by June Bugs...
