For years, the dangers of marijuana have been drilled into our heads. The fact of the matter is alcohol (a legal drug), is far more dangerous than this outlawed drug. The legalization of marijuana could significantly benefit the public good. I will explain the "dangers" of marijuana and the possible benefits of its legalization in this paper.
Contrary to popular belief, marijuana is a less dangerous drug than our government and right-winged politicians have previously preached. In fact, in the United Kingdom, it has been proposed to change marijuana from a class B drug to a class C drug because it is far less destructive than the class it is currently in represents. Alcohol is in fact more dangerous for humans than marijuana. It is nearly impossible for one to overdose on marijuana and die. Alcohol poisoning kills more people every year than all illegal drugs combined. An analysis on deaths in the United States from 1971 to 1998 has shown that of all illegal drug related deaths, marijuana is responsible for 0...
