Vatican Museum - four centuries of papal patronage and connoiseeurship have resulted in one of the worlds great collections of classical and Renaissance art. The Vatican houses many of great archaeological finds of central Italy, including the Laocoon group and the Apollo del Belvedere. The museums are housed in palaces originally built for wealthy Renaissance popes such as Innocent VIII, Sixtus IV, and Julius II. Part of these were decorated with wonderful frescoes by the finest painters of the age most notably the Borgia Apartment, the Raphael Rooms and the Sistine Chapel.
I was in this museum the past June of 2003. This museum is located in Vatican City. You can take a subway or buses to get to the museum. By subway get off at Cipro Musei Vaticani station. By bus 49 will take you to the entrance museum.
