Fall of Rome
The fall of the Roman Empire occurred in 476 AD, but this was only the end of a beginning that occurred 250 years earlier. In fact in 476 AD the Romans did not know that Rome had fallen, and the empire kept going. Historians gave the date 476 to the fall because this was the year that the last ruler of Rome was driven off the throne. This decline occurred gradually and for many reasons. Every aspect of Roman society contributed to the decline and actual fall of Rome; not only one problem caused them to decline. Rome had huge political problems, economic decline in the west, and the morality of its citizens declined.
The morality of the Roman citizens had changed dramatically in the beginning of the decline of Rome. Before the decline the Romans had a sense of family value and a sense of morality, and when this changed Rome changed. The citizens became desensitized to everything that we would see as horrible in our society. Killing, sex, and corruption became something that was not bad in their eyes...
