On Friday November 14, 2003, Mr. Oppedisano's grade 11 religion class
embarked on a religion retreat at Nativity of Our Lord parish where people from all
different religions spoke about there similarities and differences of there religions. The
people that I had the privilege to listen to were from the Buddhist religion, the Sikhism
religion, the Christian religion, and the Bah' religion.
The first person that we spoke to was a Buddhist monk. He had informed us about
why he wears the robe that he does. He made the point that he wears it not to impress us,
but to remind him of the commitments that he made becoming a Buddhist monk. The
colors that he wore were yellow and a maroon color robes. They were the main colors
that could be made at the time and then it became the colors. He can only wear the
yellow robe when he is teaching or being taught. The yellow robe is made up of a bunch
of small yellow squares, this is because at the beginning Buddhists were broke and what
they had to do was go out and find pieces of cloth sew them together and then dye them
the yellow color...
