King Louis XIV
Louis XIV was a part of the Bourbon monarch. He became king at the age of five, and ruled France for seventy-two years. During his reign, he made the Edict of Nantes, which banned Huguenots from practice religion. He also built a palace for him and his government in Versailles. A lot of money was also lost during the fault of the War of the Spanish Succession. This shows that King Louis XIV brought France to a financial disaster.
In France, the main religion was Catholicism. King Louis despised of the Huguenots, which mainly consisted of military officials and merchants. In 1685, Louis passed the Edict of Nantes, which banned Huguenots from practicing their religion, and stated that their children had to become Catholics. This resulted with around 200,000 Huguenots immigrating out of France to England and the Netherlands...
