Love, death, and betrayal are all parts of the tragic life of prince Hamlet. As the prince of Denmark, Hamlet has encountered many obstacles and events that in turn have shaped him as an individual. From the death of his beloved father King Hamlet to the intense interpersonal journey Hamlet struggles to complete the entire play, he acts and responds in a very intense and unique fashion. However young prince Hamlet is not alone throughout these experiences; many other characters in this play share a number of the same experiences with Hamlet and as a result are effect the prince. Hamlet experiences a number of changes during the play in both his actions and thoughts. Yet through all of these changes there is a smaller character who experiencing many of the same issues as the prince. For instance, Laertes, the son of Polonis is a character that effects and plays an impacting roll in Hamlets life. Both men have a lot in common and are affected by the actions of one another. The similarities and differences between Hamlet and Leartes impact the play greatly, proving that in fact Laertes existence betters prince Hamlet as a person.
