Throughout history Native Americans have had to endure much pain and suffrage. From the time the first settlers came to America, the Natives have had to try and survive in their fast changing environment. In the book Love Medicine by Louis Erdrich it tells a story about a Native American family's struggle to survive on a reservation. One character out of many in this book had to survive and endure a lot. Even throughout out her hard ships she still managed to produce many children and stay faithful to her husband. That is why Marie Kashpaw is a true survivor in the story Love Medicine.
As a child Marie was put into a convent, where she studied religion. There a nun named Leopolda abused her. Leopolda manipulated Marie, and made her feel as if the devil was in her. She was hit and scarred for many years until finally she had had enough...
